Blockprinting

Block printing

'The Magic of Indian Blockprint'.

Artisanal, unique and handmade

In a world full of mass production, we consciously choose craftsmanship. Our bags, blankets and home accessories are made with love and craftsmanship according to the traditional block printing technique, an ancient art form from India that is still done entirely by hand.

Every print, color and line is applied with the utmost precision using hand-carved wooden stamps. No machines, no assembly lines, but human hands that work with patience and dedication on every item. You see it, you feel it, and that makes your purchase unique.

How does block printing work?

A look behind the scenes..

Cutting the stamp (block)
It all starts with the design. Each print is carefully cut out of a block of teak or rosewood. Each color element requires a separate stamp.

Preparing the fabric
The fabric, often cotton or linen, is first washed, bleached and dried to remove dirt and oils. This ensures a bright colour and good adhesion.

Hand printing
The wooden stamp is dipped in paint and pressed onto the fabric with a steady hand. This is done row by row, with millimeter precision. For designs with multiple colors, the stamps are perfectly matched.

Drying & Fixing
The printed fabric is dried in the sun and then washed or steamed to fix the colours. This way the print stays beautiful for a long time.

Process into unique items
After drying, the fabric is processed into our bags, blankets and other handmade products. Each piece is unique, small variations and imperfections are what make blockprint so charming.
